Juno Blankets Social Networking Sites

The released-today DVD Juno is on my mind ... especially since there was an ad on MySpace this morning and a free Juno "gift" to give on Facebook this morning.

Apparently social networking site users are the target market.

Advertising executives such as Tim Laubacher would never know about this since they have an irrational phobia of social networking sites.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- It's always great to find a friend with a Weblog, and I recently found a great one.

My friend and former Round Up (NMSU student newspaper) colleage, Kent Lowry, authors an excellent film criticism Weblog, FlixView.

Kent was the arts editor of the Round Up and has extensive training in film and related intellectual pursuits, including at Ohio State, where I used to work! Of course I had forgotten about Kent's time in Columbus while I was there.

At any rate, check out FlixView. Although Kent's status as one of the only local movie critics in the desert Southwest -- due to his affiliation with the Las Cruces Sun-News Pulse section -- will be lost on many readers here, the blog is of interest to any movie fan. And Kent does a great job with frequent updates, so it's a good place to keep current with cinema.

Especially of interest to me was Kent's recent post about 3-D movies.

What I Look Like in Simpsons' Springfield

Here is the latest installment of fun viral content meant to hype something.

As part of the Simpsons' new movie, you can Simpsonize yourself.

You upload a photo, and voila, you have completed the first step in becoming a Simpson character. Admittedly, they were a bit lazy in their programming, because other than sharing a "Y" chromosome, I don't have much in common with this guy.

There is also much Burger King propaganda on the Web site.

And I have to admit that I am a bit bitter about not having had time to drive to Dallas to see the 7-Eleven turned into a Kwik-E-Mart.

Save Money: Spiderman 3 Is Awful

What a waste.

Spiderman 3 had a handful of excellent points, but mostly it felt as if it were going to drag on for eternity as weak plot elements were woven together.

And it did not help that some idiot brought their 2 year old to the show, and the poor kid cried the whole time. Granted the movie was lame enough to bring one to tears.
